Meet the Team: Jamie Moore

Name: Jamie Moore

Company Role: Primary P.E. Activator

Favourite quote: “You define your own life. Don’t let other people write your script.” – Oprah Winfrey

What do you do at PEAK?

At PEAK I work as a PE activator at my placement school where I am responsible for planning PE lessons throughout the school, looking after the school’s PE equipment and developing the pupils’ fundamental skills. Out of term scheduling I am seen running sessions and supporting throughout the day at our Trailblazers events. I am also part of our events team running booked events in places such as Newcastle and Sunderland; where the events range from Bubble Football; Battle Archery and Football Golf.

What are your credentials/past experience, for working in your position?

I’ve always enjoyed participating in sport since I was young but never dived deeper into it until I was in Sixth Form where I received a D*D* as my overall grade. After that I studied Sport Development at Northumbria University giving me a wide range of knowledge within coaching and the history of sport. Leaning away from academics, I have had a love for dance since I was 7 years old. Me and my brother attended some breakdance classes and I fell in love with it; to the point where I became a junior tutor of my local dance school at the age of 14. I have competed across the country in Regional, European and even World level competitions; as well as having the opportunity to perform on stage at the Metro Radio Arena.

What’s your Archetype?

I am 63% caregiver, 26% athlete and 11% creative.

What do you like about working at PEAK/What are you looking forward to when working at PEAK?

Having the opportunity to work with so many knowledgeable and supportive people who have such a huge impact on myself in a coaching and on a personal level also. From Gemma and Kate who are always pushing me to improve and make sure I am happy within my workplace; to Dave J and Dave R who always set a great example around holiday camps and talking to different members of the company, parents and the children. Then all the other apprentices I have had the pleasure of working with. There are so many different experiences across the apprentice scheme and training alongside them all developed my understanding of different aspects of the course.

What’s your background?

Throughout my life I have always lived in Blyth, Northumberland. Most of my life I have travelled up and down the country competing and attending different dance classes to widen my knowledge to teach my own classes. My family have all played such an important role in my development whether it’s my parents driving me to competitions or to university; or my grandparents’ constant support at performances. They’ve all been so important in my upbringing and I wouldn’t be the person I am today without their guidance. Before I worked at PEAK I helped run activity camps around Northumberland with playground games and arts and crafts. This alongside my dance teaching has helped me understand the role of working with children and has supported me in understanding individual needs for your group. My favourite food has always been my dad’s homemade lasagne.

What are the values that drive you?

I have always been a very selfless person who loves to see a smile on someone’s face; and when you work with children there’s no greater joy than seeing them overcome a hurdle or achieve something they didn’t think possible; and I think at PEAK we all share this seem feeling of wanting the best for the children. Building these relationships with the children and the staff is why we do what we do and this always brings me a great deal of happiness.

What do you enjoy doing when you are not working?

When I’m not working I love going dancing at my local dance school not only to practice but to give my opinion and support other routines, teams and individual dancers. However, when I’m not at the studio I love playing football with my friends which we do most weekends. I also enjoy playing on my Xbox on games such as FIFA and Apex Legends.
